West Coast Karate is an independent Karate club operating from Mandala
Hall in Bateman Western Australia. We aim to provide a safe, friendly
environment for the practice of karate as a fun, active and healthy
activity. Our instructors are keen to help each student develop their
skills and gain from the many benefits that training in a martial art
such as Karate has to offer.
We are a member of the Australian Karate Federation ("AKF") which is the only Government recognised body in Western Australia.
The AKF is the Australian member of the World Karate Federation ("WKF"). The WKF has full Olympic recognition and conducts the
official Senior and Junior/Cadet World Championships on alternate years.
Our association with the AKF provides us with ready access to coaching and officiating courses and subsequent qualifications.
The AKF is the only Government recognised body to conduct NCAS (coaching) and NOAS (officiating) accreditation courses.
As a member of the AKF we have had to fulfil the following requirements:
- Proper qualified and accredited instructors
- Acceptable teaching curriculum.
- Appropriate curriculum for men, women and children.
- Manifest discipline in classes.
- Respect to Instructor and proper attitude of instructors and students.
- Proper regard to safety factors and amenities in the dojo (training centre).
- Adequate safety and amenities in the training area.
- Acceptable criteria for learning, grading and development.
- Ethics and conduct in the dojo.
